OK, I need the BK14 (Eskabar) to make custom scales for them. I know that the Izula scales need some trimming to fit. But I wanted a perfect fit so I might have to start it over. So I need to have the knife on hand for that. I was about to buy one but having too many small knives already and I'm hoping some of you can trade your BK 14 for a set of scales that I'm going to make for it. I'll post the progress of making the scales here just for fun. Please let me know if you're interested. Thanks in advance. Happy Easter everyone!

Edit: I have a few email asking about loaning the knife to me for a set of scales. That exception offer was made to 1066vik only. To be clear... My hope was that some of you who interested in my scales will trade in your knife for a set. I need a few knives just to be sure that the scales I made will fit nicely without problem due to the tolerance in the handles and I will keep them to gauge the scales for later run. Hope this clear up all the confusion. Cheers!

I'm willing to loan you one for a month or so while you tool up and/or get your cnc program written if that helps.

This is what they will look like for now...

What material are you making the scales out of? Obviously there are other takers but I'd sacrifice my 14 for a set of custom scales.

If 1066vic does not send his I will send you one of mine....

Thanks guys, there is some tolerance on the handle, so the more knives I have on hand the better the final scales will be. I'd really appreciated if you two sent your knife to me for a set of scales. If possible please email me so I can respond with my address (click on my screen name for email option). Right now I'm going to use aluminum for the scales.

my Esky should be in the mail to sharp tomorrow or Tuesday.
Thanks bud, glad that you helped me. Hope it comes soon.

Alright, got the first knife in by 1066vik. Thank you, my friend. Here's the knife:

So, what am I going to do for it? Hopefully, not much... Seem like the contour from the out side matches really well

The raised "island" is the one needed to trim down...

Just right time to meet a new friend...

Hopefully next Monday I can have a free machine to try. Stay tune folks:D

be interesting to see if the bk14 scales would work well on an izula without significant slippage -- would make tooling easier if you only needed one pattern for the island.

You can use your new BK 14 scales on the Izula without any slippage due to the flatness of the contact surface on the handle they will hold the scales in place. The "island" is there just to make line up the perimeter contour easier and hold the scales in place when used hard (if done right) or not line up at all in case the wrong measurement applied:rolleyes:
