Tradesmen's hacking knife - very WTF.

Happy to have found this thread! I find hacking knives very useful for shop and garden tasks. I only own two, both of which are available new. Mine get plenty of use. They'll power through pretty much anything you aim them at. Look at the difference of thickness between the Hyde and the Footprint!

Two I have, one very old & used the other newer, both with thick leather scales held on with rivets. This style was very popular in the UK, my Dad years ago used to use one for removing rock hard old putty that was used to hold glass in window & door frames.

Both are thick with flat grinds, they are essentially small straight Froes......
 
I'm using mine more and more, it's also taking over kitchen duties. I even flip it over to crush things.
