Wasn't sure where to post this so.. move it if you feel the need.

I was wondering, if you are initiating in an exchange of knives, is it customary to ship your knife first, have them ship it to you first, or both at the same time? This question is from the advertisers point of view.

Thanks.

i have traded once in the past and i shipped the same day as the other guy and we both emailed pictures of the shipping/insurance/tracking reciepts
it worked out rather smoothly so thats how i suggest it should be done

I have traded two knives, one as the advertiser. Simultaneous shipping was done on both trades.

I have also sold one knife, shipping simultaneously with mailing of payment.

In all cases, I knew the other party from the Busse forum.

I have also bought in excess of 30 knives from Busse forum participants, and have never been burned.

Well, thank you for your views on this. I have always kept a firm belief in always waiting to recieve funds in full before shipping anything to anyone. Likewise, when I am buying something I wouldn't think they would ship until I have paid them. Since this is an exchange of goods, I just needed clairification. Not really in fear of getting burned with the fine people on this forum, but it was more of trying to be polite and know what to expect.

AS MikeH Said alot of the guys on here have alot of buying and selling history to back them. Checking out the good/bad/ugly thread doesnt hurt either to investigate fellow traders/buyers/sellers either.

i ship simultaneously and anyone i deal with must also.

unless its a really new member, or something smells fishy, cant remember the last time i didnt ship at the same time though.

imho this is the fairest way to do it, i have done dozens if not hundreds of swaps and stuff and havent been burned yet (knock on wood).

Great question! I only have asked for the member with no feedback in theGBU section to ship first. If I can substantiate anytrade refernces here or on another forum or ebay we can ship at the same time.

I sharpen a lot of customs so sometimes I'll ship first so the other guy can make sure it isn't ruined before they ship. (No one's ever had a problem.:) ) Otherwise I try to ship at the same time.
