Traditional and Modern pairings

You mean there is more out there besides GEC???

I went to a knife show recently got to see a lot of vintage stuff in person and actually handle some of it. I’ve been thinking a bit since then about the direction of my collecting. There’s a whole lot of delightful old Case, Schrade, Camillus, Catt., Böker, etc. stuff that makes me pretty happy. Not that I think GEC is last years hotness or anything…
I think it’s cool to be aware of other stuff in the universe though.

I still consider these to be more Modern than Traditional.
But with the GEC Fiasco, and everything but Case Knives being snatched up so quickly, and only inflated secondary prices available to the rest of us...
I've resorted to buying more of these Modernized Traditionals. They don't give me the "warm fuzzies" like true Traditionals, but they are keeping the Buying Bug satisfied.
I feel the same way. But I tell myself I'm accumulating pre-traditionals. Given time, they'll seem old as heck. 😉

Any body have any experience with the Spartan Hersey Folder? The 3.25 version has really caught my eye. Let me know!
I have two of the 4 inch SHFs. I am a fan, though I admit I prefer the Lone Wolf T-series to the Spartan Harsey Folder series. But I also acknowledge that the SHF is better made, better materials, stronger, etc. I just really like the tip down design of my old T2.

This is my standard carry when I am out in the field, and I am out in the field this week, so this is what I am carrying. There isn't much I feel like I can't handle between these two.

And for good measure, here is my SHF Plague Doctor and Forum Knife of the same vintage.

Most of my traditional knives just aren't stout enough to handle the stuff I do at work, so I've only been carrying them on weekends. :(

Earlier this week I decided to start carrying a modern knife and a traditional knife to work so that my traditional knives would get more pocket time. It's been kind of nice having a knife on me that I can use for food prep. :)
