Beautiful Murray Carter knife ! I had a few and he is definitely a craftsman and has mastered the Japanese forging technique. I use to live about a mile from his shop when he was in Oregon. One time I dropped my knife and it went tip first into the carpet hit the concrete slab underneath and chipped the tip. I took it to him to fix and sharpening expecting to pay and he did it for free. He’s very eccentric in a good way and one heck of a nice guy. I also went to one of his open houses he had once a month and watched him forge and make a blade from scratch it was amazing . Sadly I think I read he’s retired now and also saw he was selling out his inventory. So hang on to your yours it’s going to be worth some money👍🏻 I videoed one of his open houses and I’ll try to dig it up and post it.

TheFactor TheFactor , great experience and clips, thank you for sharing. Carter Cutlery knives are as good as I'll ever get (one apprentice, one Carter). I did see an update on his website, but not know further details. Maybe I'll go to Blade Show this year and see what's around. I'm the type that reads reviews, watches videos and finds multiple sources before I buy a pencil. While not the same deal, my kitchen knives are Japanese Shuns.

I respect people who are appreciative for what they have learned and make it a point to be generous in use and sharing with others. I am surrounded by a few people like that and try to be mindful to be the same. I'd love to spend some time in a bladesmith's shop after I retire, I could make coffee and sweep the floor.
