Traditional and Modern pairings

……….whether there’s still many who are not favourable toward the location of manufacture for Rosecraft, there is utterly no denying their foothold, their place in our current knifey world - the fit n finish and value for money is similarly undeniable.

Another very nice Stag example.!

Lovely backlock too. I’m guessing that’s possibly very tasty Gidgee on the handle…?

Yep rosecraft make a quality knife for the price.
Koa wood scales on the Warren which are great 👍

mitch13 mitch13 by the way……… just had a look back - I hardly ever buy a knife these days that doesn’t have scales from Mother Nature one way or t’other.

Though I’m now retiring, as an architect/interior designer (mostly high-end resi) I cannot bring myself to finish a kitchen without a surface to touch that isn’t from Mother Nature. Maybe it’s being born/brought up in Africa - though there is undeniable beauty and quality in many, many man-made materials - both my conscious and sub conscious are ‘happier’ with wood, bone, stone or leather to the immediate touch.

Bought trekking poles for the first time the other day…….my mates have synthetic handles, but no, I paid extra for cork without a second thought. Custom seat on every Harley I’ve had………leather. Favourite hat - ‘roo from Oz…

Very interesting 👌
You just like quality i think. Natural material has the element of having to be picked for it's unique texture or look which results in feel of quality, compared to mass produced synthetic.

Cork is good choice for trekking poles, also supposed to have anti bacterial properties.
If you want a T handle check out the komperdell walker full cork handle.

Had this pair with me out yesterday enjoying the fall colors and some good food.

Today back in the office for the week, I have these two with me. I’m debating getting some Skiff thick washers to try out on the Smock. Bearings are fun and all but I really have a soft spot for good action on washers.

......oh, yes. Took my Sebbie apart earlier this year - cleaned, gentle polish on Micromesh (over glass plate), reassembled.........aaaw ☺️
I’ve always had fun changing out the oil/grease on sebenzas over the years too. Combined with a little polish on the washers (doesn’t take much!) you can change the action from the usual “hydraulic” CRK style to drop shut with a lighter oil.

Really gave me an appreciation for well-executed washers. Recently polished up the phosphor bronze washers on my XM-18 and got that dialed in and now I can’t see myself going back to the bearings. Way easier to work with since dirt doesn’t get into the interface surfaces as easily.
