My most usual traditional/modern combination is a multitool and a slipjoint. Sometimes when I carry a quirky modern folder, something that's not really that useful as a tool (like a kerambit or a Protech Godfather) I add a classic folder to actually cut things with.

Been having fun with this giant folding hunter. Long blade with thin grind is a fun combination. Overkill for my afternoon apple but that is half the fun.
