i forgot to mention, that the bow that i am shooting in the pics, (with the exception of the first golf pic) is a new addition to my arsenal... i picked it up from a friend while i was there... i love it... it's a sweet shooter... it's a 60 in. 48# @ 28 in. reflex-deflex longbow, made by custom bowyer Don Dow..

As someone who has recently taken up archery (I'm tired of cleaning my firearms) that looks like wicked fun. Even though I'm in so cal I'd seriously consider the drive to play a couple rounds of "golf". On a side note, what kind of jacket is this.

that is indeed a warm and comfortable jacket... it is a Columbia Monarch Pass- gallatain wool jacket.. they make a really cool longsleeve shirt/jacket as well... i have been wanting to check that one out for a while...

The Columbia Gallatin Range Wool stuff is really nice stuff. I think they might be discontinuing it so get it while you can. Ive seen it on sale at quite a few places.

Nate that would be really cool, if you could make one of these shoots man.. you would have a blast...:thumbup: there' some really great folks that attend too..
i have plenty of bows, if you want to shoot in the meantime...
Nice pictures Mike!! looks fun. Do you hunt? I'm a trad archer (Robertson stikbow Longbow 68" 55#@28 shooting wood arrows of my own make) Here in N.C. I've killed two deer so far this season. Nothing like fresh venison killed the traditional way!! Kind regards to all trad archers in this forum. H-minus

I'd say you've got some lucky kids, too. Having a dad who takes them out shooting and spending so much time outdoors is a tremendous privilege.
Seeing that country makes me sort of homesick. Growing up in Placerville, I saw a lot of rolling hills like that. Thanks for all the great pictures!
there were lots of knives present... it was cool.. i used these 2 quite a bit over the weekend... a TOPS Shango, designed by our very own Joezilla.. a review is on the way for this knife it's a solid performer.. i really enjoyed it.. and i also got a good chance to play with the Koster WSS forum necker... this one is also a very useful little EDC user...
That's a pretty cool looking TOPS knife. Also cool that one of our fellow forumites had a hand in it's creation!

H-minus-- right on man.. nice to see another trad. bow shooter here... i do hunt here and there.. i don't get out nearly as much as i would like... there are afew turkey's with my name on them tthis fall...
congrats on the 2 deer.. those Robertson bow's are really nice...MM38-- thanks for the kind words man... i appreciate it...:thumbup: i am indeed a lucky Dad/Husband, to have a family of archers...
i bet you do miss Cali. as much as i love other states, i don't know if i could leave this area... it's gorgeous and the weather is perfect..
i really like the TOPS Shango too... if you feel the need for another multi-purpose utility style knife, give the Shango a try...

haha.. that's great...
the little dude is a natural born woods romper... his hat is faux-coonskin... made out of similar fabric as stuffed animals.. he has a real one, but his head gets too hot when he wears it.... cheers.. mike

most of the bows in the pics are custom made, by bowyers who make bows for a living... here's a few links if you would like to check some out... Cabela's also carries a few traditional bows as well...
