As it stands, Wednesday is always fun making sure I carry a wooden handled knife. Not hard for me as I love ebony and usually carry one of now 3 knives I own with the material. I have been trying to come up with something as catchy as wooden Wednesday for bone but I'm stumped! It would be great to have a day dedicated to carrying a classic clad in some amazing bone. Smooth or jigged, died or natural they all have some appeal to me and I have a feeling I am not alone around here. So what should we call this day? What do would you like to carry a bone knife around?

This thread will just be used to gauge interest and kick the idea around. Someone can post a new one if we can come up with something collectively :)

A pic of my yellow rose to hopefully inspire some interest.

I'd have to go with Stag Saturday & Sunday, course I carry stag everyday but I do like the concept of wooden Wednesday and may try to observe that practice in the future as well. I love ebony too.

Oh I forgot my only name worth sharing.....I got a Bone to pic with you, its (insert day here).... this is why I am asking for names lol

I think it's a great idea, why not just "It's Monday, I got a bone to pick with you!"? Or whatever day. I think it works.

Jeff, that's just the fever talking, go back to bed ;) :D
I like the idea and the name. An incentive to switch knives is always welcome, or some will get neglected :)

Get yourself and your girls well soon.

I like it :D and Monday works for me as well

Boney Tuesday sounds like the name of a jazz trombonist. ;)
Traditional bone Tuesday

Two votes For Tuesday :)
(not like this is official or anything but quite fun for me)

If I lay down anymore today I think I will go crazy but I thank you for the well wish's friend :). Incentive, excuse, those words are interchangeable for me :D

I think most bone used to haft knives is cattle shin bone, so why not Tibia Tuesday?

Please don't take this personally rockfolfer it is not personal. I think we have too many of these already and too few threads of substance. On some days you can look on this forum and see nothing but GAWs (nothing wrong with them), the latest GEC whatever (nothing wrong with them), what's in your pocket whatever, should I send it back for whatever, blah blah blah, you get my point. Not to say this stuff is not important because it is but the Traditional Forum is evolving and I for one think not for the better. A rant I have been thinking about for awhile. My $.02 which won't buy diddly. I am sure some will think this inflammatory and maybe it is but it is not personal towards anyone just me perception. Take it with the grain of salt it is served.

No offense taken Brad. I started this thread for just this reason, gauge how the community felt about another "day". I certainly understand that the board can get gummed up with multiple threads of the same type. Considering myself a newer member to this sub-forum I dont see much change going on around here. Care to share what that means? I would also ask the follow up question : What can we do to keep this place on track? I guess I dont understand your point of view but I want to. We are mostly(myself not counted ;) ) adults here. I think we can talk and have a discussion that can help us all have a better time here without feelings being involved

I honestly don't get what your saying or where this is coming from. Maybe a little bit about the multiple threads about the latest GEC but not about this thread in particular. People love the wooden Wednesday and I think having a day dedicated to bone is very cool thing and only fair really. This is a traditional forum so anything that has to do with traditional knives is fair game. I guess I just don't read the threads that I don't feel will interest me.

I think Brad is saying there's not much of a variety of new topic's like there use to be. Has nothing to do with Wooden Wednesday at all my friend. He's just saying there's a lot of threads that have the same content. I think he wants different subject matter to talk about, maybe more threads were we all can LEARN more and maybe a little more in depth conversations about the different subject matter. That's
what I've taken from his post... Plus I kind of know where he's coming from! Hope this helps??

I can certainly see a lack of substance when it comes to learning threads but.... I have joined other knife forums and rarely visit them anymore. Reason being they are slllooooowww and the technical questions dont get answered or do several days after you ask it. I see more technical questions asked and answered here then anywhere else on the net about traditional knives. If any others exist that are busier please feel free to pm or email a link anyone. The traffic is pushed by the eye candy around here and many read more then they post. Ill go a little past the line and say that the ones with the knowledge need to start threads, bring old ones back and start the education process. If its more real content your after then lets get it going :). I read almost every thread on here and learn as much as I can. I would love to see more engaging threads with topics less like asking for pics and more on fixing or history. The fact is most dont have the knowledge to share, most are here to learn. Any time I have a question I search first. 75% of the time I find the answer I am looking for and if I cant then I will start a thread. I would think this is a common technique around here and other forums.

I think we have gotten very social around here and it has helped create a very friendly and inviting place. I come on here to relax, learn and share one of my joys in life, traditional knives. While this is a new hobby to me I know some of you have been around them more then I have been alive. I learn what I can and share what I learn, I would like to think that most around here do the same thing. So while some may look at this as an idea for just another picture thread, I look at it as a way to share in our passion, make new friends and maybe spy the next knife to lust over. I will gladly join in any conversation that goes more in depth and would welcome more of those style threads

I don't know, but as soon as I get to 500 posts in the "what traditional are you totin thread", I'm gonna post a give away.

That being said, I know where Brad is coming from. I kinda took to the Wooden Wednesday thread, but really I don't think a bunch similar threads to that are really warranted. My thoughts are that if folks want to carry wood on Wednesday and share, they can certainly do that and we have the thread I referred to above for posting what we carry on that as well as other days.

Do we need "Toothpick Thursday"s or "Fish Knife Friday"s or "moon pie Monday"s? We can find reasons, but I don't think we need to. I like many of the threads in this forum, but I think we have enough "eye candy" threads.
