Traditional EDC

I was thinking more about wear and tear on the scales themselves, but even if they break the scales are proburly easily replaced.
 
I've seen photos of old bone handles that were cracked, but I wouldn't worry about that. By then, a crack is something to brag about. I'd buy whatever appeals to you.
 
For an EDC slipjoint pattern I recommend a canoe, bucks Chinese canoe is my 2nd favorite pocket knife for EDC task, i.e. Makin a sammich
