Soviet stuff was cheap but surprisingly durable. I've an old pocket-watch from the 70s that still in good order. See any contemporary goods from PRC lasting that long, doubt it very much Today in Byelorus, there's a pretty good watch factory Luch that still makes jewelled watches, including an amusing one handed watch
