Traditional folders and watches/timepieces

Just acquired this 1917 Waltham, runs and keeps time. Someday I'll pull the trigger on a railroad grade, but I really like these size 12 cases. They actually fit in the watch pocket!

Also with the newest knife addition, reminding me why ebony wood is my favorite cover material.

solid gold or warranted case? i think mine is very similar...

trigger on a railroad grade,

Railroad grade is a marketing scheme that has been going on since at least the 1870s and is still in full swing today. Really, for pocket watch collecting, I blame the collectors from the 1950-70s for keeping it going. They had westerns and the whole yeehaw nostalgic thing crammed into their heads day after day on tv and radio. I gotta admit, the westerns are cool. I had cap guns and a pistol belt too and grew up in the 90s.

There are millions and millions of great watches out there and they dont have to be associated with the railroad in some obscure fashion to be nice or collectable.

Sorry about the rant....
Enjoy your lovely 12 sized watch! It's a beauty!

He is a nice Elgin I fixed up a few years ago and it is also not a railroad watch. I think it needs a day or two out of the box, thanks for the inspiration.

Fahys Montauk 10k/20 year guaranteed. Stamp is kinda hard to read though.

Thanks! And yes I don’t concern myself with the “railroad” grade too much; from what I gather it’s the case you’re paying for more than the movement anyway though I’m still learning. That Elgin is a beauty!
