Traditional folders and watches/timepieces

Nothing "wrong" with Casio. It has been my "go to" watch brand since 2013 or so.
They keep much better time than my "house brand" watches with an unbranded Seiko quartz, or NH35 automatic movement ... 1 or two seconds per week, compared to Seiko's 5 (quartz) to 22 seconds (NH35 😠) per day .
For sure, as far as keeping time, fantastic. Lots of them never need a battery (solar) or have one that lasts 10 years, receive the atomic clock time, link to your phone to get the time, water proof, and lose negligible seconds per month. Some automatics are just art work, though. To be honest, that G-Steel is gorgeous, but so is my even cheaper steel Casio dive watch that cost maybe a quarter of the price. I do love Casio. I have some Seiko and a few cheaper Swiss quartz watches with dead batteries from way back when I stopped wearing a watch... I love to wear Casio now and not worry about anything... I did that with a Seiko Coutura a GF gave me and it looked like I ran it through a stone wash tumbler after wearing it 6 months.

Looks just right. I have some old beaters too but I’m not as hard on the new goods as I used to be!View attachment 3155142View attachment 3155143

That L.L. Bean Hamilton is really cool, Dave.:thumbsup:

I’ve never been much of a watch guy. I mean, I do wear a watch (the regular old kind, no smart watch for me), and I can certainly appreciate the watches posted in this thread, but I’m mostly a one watch kind of guy, and it’s never been too fancy. I had a Luminox for years, bought it around the time I graduated high school and wore it for almost 20 years. A few years ago I broke the crystal and I couldn’t get it replaced. I did get a good discount offer from Luminox since they weren’t able to repair my watch, but I couldn’t quite decide on a new one. While I was deliberating, I bought a $40 Timex off Amazon, just so I had something to wear, and, well, that was like three years ago and I’m still wearing the Timex. 🤣

MDV106 Marlin/Duro?
I have one too. I put a no-name stainless stretch band on it, the day the watch arrived. (TEMU delivered a couple days faster than amazon without "prime". 🙄) It is (currently) my favorite Casio watch to wear now.
(I am "thinking" of getting a base G Shock digital. If I ever do, it might see more time on my wrist.)

I understand I am in "good" company(?) with others who wear the MDV106 Duro/Marlin as their daily watch.
Billy Gates of Microsoft infamy also wears one. 🤯😳 Tho his has the black bezel. Mine has the blue and black ("black & blue" sounds like a bruse.) bezel.
I compare it to my Casio WV 58 atomic about once or twice a month, and adjust the 106 if needed. 😊

I had been shopping the DURO from what I recall, end ended up with another really nice looking Casio like that... I need to pop the back off and replace the battery on that one and my ESQ Criterion... nice looking inexpensive watches. That Casio is a steal... I will see if I can post a pic. I wore that Criterion through three batteries years ago and it was a good watch. Casio must be the super illuminator MYD-1079D-1AVEF... for scale that ESQ is a 42mm. Pretty sure that Casio was about $55... G-Shock was more like $275... the new steel band design is pretty good for removing links, just need a small flathead like the kind for glasses, and then you like 4 adjustments you can do in the clasp relatively quick. The tough part for me is the pressure fitting on the backs for battery swaps, but a wood block can do the trick.

Thank you Barrett! That was my first and favorite watch I wore throughout high school and college. As a Boy Scout who became an Eagle Scout I loved quality old LL Bean stuff. I ordered that watch from the catalog! Pretty sure I saved up and gave cash to my parents who then sent a check along with my order back then…

Cool story and memory

The casioak is sweet
That's the new slimmer 2110... I guess it is same bezel size as the old 2100's but I like that the steel ones are not ginormous like my GG-1000... they are definitely not a 45-50mm, so more classy I think... GG-1000 can take the punishment and still look relatively new, but it also attracts impacts since it is so damn tall on the wrist.
