Traditional French Fry day

Anybody carried and used a Kiana by Florinox? Supposed to be an inexpensive work-knife, locking and in various colours. Kind of c21st Opinel?

Cuts well, though a bit thicker than an opinel 8. I wrote some things about it in the review section a few years ago.
Solid feeling, good construction and so cheap it is really worth trying. There is a more expensive version too, but the basic one is fine and better value.

Will, funny you should ask. I just got this red one last year courtesy of VCM3 VCM3 Vince. Very impressive for the price. Thin grind and rock solid lockup. Very sharp and slicey out of the box. Mid-lock like the Tribal Lock which I am quite used to working one-handed. I haven’t done any hard use with it yet but it made short work of some package openings and cardboard yesterday. I’m going to put a lanyard on and IMG_7517.jpegkeep it with my fly fishing kit. Recommend!

Very good! I've got one coming from France together with a couple of inexpensive resin handled Pallares knives from Catalonia/Spain. I'm hoping to use it for box cutting, opening tape smothered packets (which really mess up a blade with sticky muck, a wipe with WD-40 fixes that problem though ), and general rough house tasks . I really like the look of those Liérande knives that Alan has shown but they do cost a lot more 70€ but doubtless superior quality.

Thanks, Will

That’s why when Vincent VCM3 VCM3 offered one for sale I jumped on it

Originally made in France for workers in the vineyards for tending the vines - also used for picnics and in the kitchen.

This one is made from Juniper wood and smells orgasmic..!

Given my recent surgical procedure the mere mention of orgasmic and a knife tends to scare the webejebies out of me! 😜

Like it, like it, yes I do ! 😻 But is it a spring knife or one of the friction tribe? (Hopefully not...o_O )

Thanks, Will
Yes, it’s got a good back spring, Will.

There’s many French made knives I’ve picked up and handled - apart from the usual excellent build quality, there so often seems to be some added enchantment to them.! Obviously, need more of them in my life - perhaps an added adventure on the 🏍️ this summer to one of France’s many Knife shows 😎
