Traditional French Fry day

Laguioles free from life as safe Queens!! I pick these up and carry and use them; experiencing the French Knife connection!!
Nothing like using an historic design to warm this collector's heart!!

A new arrival this week and one of my favorite patterns!

I’ve been interested in this one for awhile. What do you think of the locking system? Is it pretty simple and smooth to press the butt to release the blade tang from the spring?

To be completely honest, this isn't the easiest lockback to disengage, in fact it's my opinion that most FP knives have really tight lockbars. None of them have any blade play though. The 'rooster comb' isn't too harsh on the fingers, as the file work has been well buffed but it is a bit more to disengage than say, any Spyderco or even a Buck 110.

I was on the fence about this pattern for a year because I was worried about the handle being too short and the 'beak' being uncomfortable. I wear L/XL gloves and there's still a bit of extra room. I find the knife to be just about the perfect size to bring along with my lunch every day.

Go for it. It's definitely a favorite in my collection.

Thanks for the review. I have a Capuchadou from FP and it is really well done. The 5 coqs seems to be a modernized form of the shepherd’s knife, Yssingeaux, but a bit slimmer. Both look very nice. So many nice knives, so little disposable income 😁

Hello, have a nice Friday with a French handmade knife or others. 😎
Here is a Curnicciolu, it's a Corsican knife 2 nails by Benjamin Celle, ram horn handle, steel blade from Tarn.

waynorth waynorth Charlie, that is a good one!! Love the Bocote and that file work! Looks like you got an older one as they have started laser etching new ones instead of stamping the blades. ☹

For today, this Navette made for me by Renaud Aubry a few years back. I heard he passed a year or two ago.... anyone know the details?

Red Apple Coral with chiseled spring.

Really like the lines on this one. Is the edge thin enough to be a good slicer or is it a little thick in the edge? Back-spring or friction folder? This would be more cool if it had a slight clip point. The point looks similar to a Sod Buster shape. Or is that just me? Thanks for showing some of your cool knives, I have enjoyed seeing them.

Thank you for the general appreciation of my modest knives.
My English is very imperfect, I'll try to answer your questions.

This is a simple friction knife with 2 nails. The steel from the Tarn steel mills is appreciated by some cutlers for its very good quality. The edge is fine and cuts very well. The width of the back of the blade is 2.2mm at its widest.
I don't have a Sod Buster to make a photo comparison but for me they are different.

Have a nice day

Edit :
I didn't have time to take a picture of the blade.
Maybe you will see some things better on this old picture.

Thanks, Corto, your English is good. I appreciate the time you take to show us your knives. You have a good variety, plus at least one American knife, that Case Tribal lock. Tre Bien. I know more Spanish than French. :) So that would be Que maravillosa!
