Interesting,The SAK is definitely a gentleman's knife. The other looks like a peasant knife to me.
Obviously the OP has a very particular type of knife in mind but if we're making allowances for geography and culture then here's a nice example of an Alaskan Gentleman's Knife:I will happily have to disagree with on that, 1 of the traditional uses of the higonokami was as a students pencil sharpening knife, equivelant of a western pen knife. I don't agree wirh your defination of a peseant knife & under your terms no trappers or whittlers should be listed in this thread.
