Traditional knife Giveaway box round 117 WINNERS CHOSEN !!!

Now you're making me feel kind of bad.
I chose that Boker because the pen blade was quite kanted and it seemed like a good project.

I don't think I squandered the knife or anything, but assumed it was lower interest and if I had known somebody would have loved it as is I would have left it alone.
Hey we let it go, do something good with it! Very cool idea

I hope nobody minds, but since I've still got the box I changed my selections a bit.

I felt bad about taking too many Barlows from the box, and that Imperial just didn't seem like a candidate for modification.
It's in mint condition and is about the nicest imperial Barlow as I've ever seen, if I didn't yet own a Barlow it would be a great carry.
It doesn't even have that loose hollow feel that I'm used to.

I decided to put it back and instead take this rough TL29.

It's loose because somebody really pried with it, and for some reason the screwdriver jams up like this.

I also decided to take the little 18OT and replace it with a black sodbuster JR.
it's a little nail breaker that's kinda scary trying to close due to the liner lock, but I think I could recover it in stag and delete that liner lock to make one sweet little knife.

Can I get in on this round?
I believe higher post counts have typically been required in the past, but I have no objections and no problem putting your name in if nobody else minds since you are a paying member who seems to exclusively post here on the porch.

I havent ordered from the us for a while. I think its ok as long as its not assisted or thumb stud type knives.

Either way, it's all good. Maybe err on the side of not ruffling feathers.

We've done international on the box in years past, but I really think that is not a good idea right now. International shipping and customs are too unpredictable out of the US (much as it galls me to ever say that). I think that the box is in dire need of culling, but not the seized by customs kind of culling.

A small box limited to just purely traditional slipjoints might be safer to ship, but right now the box has a number of knives that could easily be flagged by overzealous customs folk, even if the knives wouldn't be illegal. The big box o' knives is too easy for someone to act like it is a shipment of "weapons", and it is hard to fight that kind of decision from the far side of the planet.

That is my fear.

Reducing the overall number of knives in this giveaway/passalong thing would probably be a logical step, plus the remaining knives being of better quality/higher value would set the bar as to what the winner would put in to replace the item(s) they selected. Value over Quantity kind of thing.

One idea might be to separate the lot now, and see if the Original starter of this entire giveaway mrknife mrknife would be interested in taking the fallout and do with as he pleases. He may not want any of it and then I would say the person holding the bag now can keep/give away to friends locally and reduce the overall size that has to be shipped out.

Just a thought, being as I remember what a large quantity of knives that had to be packed up again and shipped out and the cost was pretty high.

G2

What about splitting into 2 boxes. This drawing would cost a little more total to ship, but subsequent drawings would be less to ship. Increases odds of winning.
