Traditional knife shields - Question about G10 and other non-standard shield material

I am working with a knife maker on building a custom slip joint and have requested a pinned federal shield made out of black G10. While not too common, I know there are several makers out there that will use this and other non-traditional materials for shields from time to time.

The problem and my question is, that this particular maker has no experience with doing so which has me wondering if these shields can be purchased on the internet or in cases where they're used, do makers make these shields themselves. If the latter, I won't press the abilities of this knife maker, but if it's something that can be bought online, I will purchase and ship to him. What about a material like meteorite.. can that be purchased online pre-made? I haven't had success finding anything..

Any insight would be appreciated and sorry if this is not the correct forum.

I don't think you will find anything in non-metal. He, or someone else, will have to fabricate it. It will be no different in G-190 than in brass/nickel.
I would have a bit of concern that if he isn't familiar with making an insert, he may not be familiar with cutting the hole and fitting them together.

Thanks for the response Stacy. I know absolutely nothing about knife making so helps to have that basis of understanding. I'm sure this maker knows how to do an insert. I probably just asked the question wrong or there is some miscommunication since he speaks little english. I'll ask again and let him know that the process is no different for non-metal materials. Thanks again!
