Traditional knives (customs) being used?

This is a great question started by you Cascade. I'm in the Portland area (by the way),so we're neighbors.Good to have you here.

You're welcome, and thanks for the welcome. We are neighbors, except for that pesky 6 1/2 hour drive along IHW 84 that doesn't even get remotely interesting until around the Dalles area. ;):D

I have good Friends that live in Vancouver, WA. Thanks again....

Here's a couple I carry and use! It's fun
to use these custom knives!! They can
cut anything!! Hard to go back to
anything else!lol

I really like the Reese Bose. Reminds me a little of the knife my Granddad gave me after he passed. I believe it is a Western. His had three blades however..... all had been used until they hardly resembled blades at all. I still cherish it.

Thanks for the pics/replies everyone.

These just came out of my pockets for the pictures, then went right back in.

Oh man you gotta love the bone on those two along with everything else.

The rest of you guys are awesome too. At least now I do not feel as crazy any more. :D.

(or is it just that I have company.)

man makes me want to carry and use my Fallkniven TK3 more often
it's the only knife that costs more than a gec in the trads part of the collection

will be hard to use a cutom the way I use my cv trapper, we'll see as 2011 is the year I want a custom slippie!

George, this looks like the perfect EDC to me - very nice

Here is one I carry a lot. It's a real pleasure.

The ones I don't carry are the ones that get sold or traded away sooner or later.
No matter how beautiful :)

I have the same attitude whether it be knives, guns, or fishing stuff. I really dislike it sitting in a closet unused so I sell it or give it to someone who will use it instead.

i feel that the only situation better than possessing a custom is using same. early in my collecting career i carried every custom folder i bought. presently i'm only ordering sheath knife customs which i use every time i get out. most customs surpass factory offerings in performance, however this is not always the situation. many members are aware i'm big on great easterns & i admit that of these my users only number 4 or 5. my smaller straight knives not in the field see kitchen duty.--dennis truly the pride of ownership is best expressed when one can use his beauty in company of others whom appreciate great cutlery.

I think the only knives I wouldn't use would be jewel encrusted, or art knives.
For all the others, someone sat down and thought out the designs and materials, and I'd wager none of those men intended for their work to just be looked at.
I've been given a hard time for using some expensive knives and to them I'd say, bugger off.
