Ken made this for me on a dare. We were talking on the phone and he was bored and looking for a challenge. I sent him an image from an old Remington catalog and told him if he was bored, try making that pattern. (Without any go-by, for the record.)

Well, I had forgotten about it since I didn't think he took me seriously. Some months later when we hooked up at his first Blade Show, I walked into his room at the hotel and lo and behold, he surprised me with this:

Just WOW . . . a complete tour de force. Very few of even the best custom makers would attempt it, much less pull it off like that.

Still here, Charlie. Thanks for the thoughts.

Was thinking today about the last time we roamed the aisles of the Blade Show together. Tina says hi.

Elliott

(But it's the thought(s) that counts.)

Still here, Charlie. Thanks for the thoughts.
I like seeing your logo on here, Elliott. That was one fun show, 'lo those years ago!!
Hi, Tina!!

Any news from Ken?? You brought out the best in him, Elliott!!

Not in the last month or two, Charlie. He sends me an email every now and again. Once in a blue moon a phone call. I'll reach out to him soon.

I just sent an email off to Ken. I'll report back here after getting a reply. Thanks to you all for your concern and support for one of the truly good guys.

Heard back from Ken and he sounds great. He's been working on a wildlife habitat project on some land he owns and manages, and also devoting some time (and a fixed blade he made) in support of other federal / local / private wildlife projects in his area of WI.

Charlie, he's still carrying that vintage Winchester I bought when you and I were together at Blade, and which I gave him as a gift a few years later. Brought a smile to know he still had it in his pocket.

Anyway, he's doing well and enjoying life. Not much more any of us can ask for than that. I sent him everyone's regards.
