Recommendation? Traditional Lockback Knife

On the other end of the spectrum cost wise, I also really like this A.G. Russell Gunstock. It's the knife that changed my mind about only carrying knives Made In The U.S.A.

I only own a few lockbacks but this one is my favorite. Aside from the fact that it's exceptionally well made, there's just something about it. The all stainless hardware is a big plus for me.

I've posted pics of this Moki Calliope a few times. Construction is top notch. I don't hear a lot of talk about the Calliope. In fact, my own posts are the only time I ever read anything about it.:D

It's a little different but that's one of the reasons that I like it. I also prefer the mid lock over a lockback.

Black Micarta with a Mother of Pearl inlay and VG10 steel.

Rick makes a good point that I should have mentioned in my Case Tribal Lock recommendation. One of the many attractive features of the Tribal Lock for me is the positioning of the lock release in the center of the knife instead of at the butt. Not sure why, but I find back locks awkward to use, but mid locks are much better (and my Mercator Black Cat with lock release just behind the pivot is my favorite).

I own this same AG Russell Gunstock, as well as a AG Russell Barlow Lockback, and I find both of these - like Rick - exceptionally well made. I actually both extras to gift to my brother, and besides its superb fit&finish, the all stainless construction makes them even better.

Rick, I like that one. Flat or hollow grind?

Here are my Mokis.
IMG_20180430_213417968~3.jpg F&F are without compare. They both have lighter pulls than I prefer, but other than that no complaints.

Two Case users, Copperlock and Jr. IMG_20180430_213727195~3.jpg
Nice knives but maybe below your expectations.

I've owned several Case Copperlocks in both sizes. I love the design of their clip blades and every single one of them has been centered with zero blade play. Very slim in pocket as well.

Thanks Tom. It's full flat grind. I really like that pearl interframe of yours.

Yes, the MOP and abalone are fitted perfectly, and gleam in the right light. A well-built knife.

They are great pocket knives, with no pocket-snagging due to the sunk joint. I'm currently carrying the Mini CL long term to see what it's like to use a single knife. I'm into month 2. First time I've done this. Too early to say, but I'll eventually post something in the Case sub.

Hey guys,

I really appreciate your help with my search for a traditional pocket knife!!! I made a list with a few knives that you guys recommended. My good friend knew about my knife search and got me Case Sodbuster Jr., which suppose to arrive soon! I think I am will get a few extra traditional knives next month! Anyway, thank you guys!!!

Lock-backs are a new (old) obsession of mine. Picked up a few A.G. Russell knives, got a Buck 110 exclusive with copper frame and carbon fiber slabs, and considering a Bose/Case lock-back, if I can scrape together the dough.

A custom Buck 112 is on my short list, as well.

Definitely check out A.G. Russell, his traditional lockbacks are superb, and for what you want to spend you could pick up several.
Thanks, Neal

Further to the Russlock Contingency...

One of the good things about Case is their wondrous range of scales. Admittedly Whisky bone and Harvest Orange are very similar in the ones shown here. I wanted to give the the comparitive size and shape in terms of workplace friendliness.
