Traditional looking, but with thumb studs?

I like the looks of traditional folders.. the shapes, woods/bone used in the handles, the classic blade finishes. Only problem is I love the ability to one hand open/close a knife. Never been a fan of nick nails, so are there more traditional looking folders out there that have thumb studs? I recently ordered one of the Cold Steel Mackinac Hunters but it hasn't arrived yet (I'll be switching the fake bone out for jig bone).

Thanks,
John

I like the thumbstuds on a real worker, too. While one hand is occupied holding something that needs to be cut or trimmed, it is nice to be able to reach in your pocket and open the knife, use it, then close it.

I didn't know CASE had any in production. Thanks for the link, Lenny.

Some nice examples in this older thread on the same topic: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...onal-folder-with-one-hand-opening-and-locking
Here too: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-opening-traditional-gentleman-s-folder/page2

That said, get a CRK Mnandi (yes, it opens and closes with one hand :D)

I have two, Case Trapperlock and Case Mid-Folding Hunter. Both are linerlock with thumbstuds, and the Trapper is even CV steel:

Don't have a pic of the folding hunter yet, but the Bermuda green handles are very nice.

Boker also makes some, the Copperliner and Trapperliner. Same idea as the Case with thumbstuds and liner locks, but no pocket clips. My Copperhead is SS but they have carbon steel available too.

Man I love that Spire Christian. It's been on my wish list since I first saw yours in a Wharncliffe thread.

I forgot about the Double Cross by Kershaw, another nice knife.

My left side is paralyzed, so my knives have to have one-handed opening. For traditional knives--I have more than a few--I put on a one-armed bandit, as long as it's a single bladed knife and sufficient blade sticks up above the handles. Some knives are nail breakers, however, and on these I have to have the spring tension loosened so that they are easier to open.

Thanks Zip. It is a nice piece and is crafted better than any production slipjoint I've ever seen. Plus the green bone is really good looking. I only wish it had a nail nick instead of a thumbstud so that I could show it off more.

Case and Rough Rider have several, Benchmade has the HD Hardtail which is like a modern Buck 110/112 (thumbstuds, axis lock, pocket clip)

I am going to follow Elliott's example with the other thread, and move this to General. The one-hand opening requirement pretty much takes it out of the realm of "Traditional".

Plus the Cold steel takes it out of Traditionals.

Cold Steel had the Country Classics.....slip joints without studs...very traditional made by Camillus.

but they stopped having them made before this necro thread was started.
