Do you guys consider Alox or wooden handled SAK's to be traditional knives? I have always loved my Cadet that I have carried for almost 5 years. I just want to know if I need to keep this discussion in the MT Forum.

Swiss Army knives for the most part are slip-joint knives. The can opener/bottle opener is found on other traditional knives.
Most models are based on the Boy scout/ Camper pattern.
I think yes they are traditional knives.

They seem to have a rather large following here in the traditional section and I post about them all the time and so far have not been ostracized. Sure Alox is not a "traditional" handle material but the rest of the knife fits the bill.

I like Cadet's too! :thumbup:

I don't consider them to be traditional knives but that doesn't mean I don't like them. Just one mans opinion.

Nice!! I like the green ones

I have been wanting an Electrician for a while now. What do you guys think of them? I probably use the can opener once a year, and I carry a P-38 in my wallet anyway.

SAK Guy, you are making my bank account unhappy! I just might have to bite the bullet and get one. But hey, what's $30 in the long haul?

The second Sheepsfoot blade is the best thing since sliced bread .
It is the blade I use 90% of the time . The larger blade is reserved for food duties .
Get one you will really enjoy it .

I you don't have a 93mm ALOX SAK...the Electrician is a wonderful way to start but be warned, it can lead to others and others and others! ;)

Trust me on this.....

Nice guys, I've had the electrican but ended up with this one, as I like the small hawkbill blade for lots of handy cutting tasks, this is the Pioneer Harvester which I guess is out of production? Does anyone know of another Alox handled Vic that also has this type of hawkbill blade?

The Vic Hawksbill blade is something I have never seen in person. Even if it was half as good as the electrician's sheepfoot blade.

Nice, thanks, have to figure out on that, don't have paypal and that looks like how they want to go, but, this is taking away from the thread so I'll add this photo;

my Pioneer Harvester along side my now gone TC Barlow which is without a doubt traditional ;)
