Traditional Slipjoint Makers???

Almost forgot Al Warren. I have never owned one from Mr. Warren but have heard good things here.

Also can't forget Bob Ham. His prices are very reasonable.

As for Ohta and Ty Montell, I enjoyed my knives from them so much that I have one on order with both right now. Got both for less than $1000! And I must say my last Montell was the sharpest custom knife out of the box next to my Murray Carter Gyuto. Not sure if that says much considering I don't own many customs. But it does say something compared to the slips i've owned/own and have handled.

I don't think anyone compares to Ray Cover in the well under a grand category.

This is one of my favorite folding hunters by Ray:

A lot of great makers mentioned here....
Durwood,is that Dyed Stag ??

Speaking of Dyed stag,This is a lockback, but you don't hear much about Daniel Warren of NC,but he makes a slip, too.Very high quality,at fair honest prices. The knives are set up for EDC,with satin and brushed finishes. This one is D-2,and some lucky forum member was lucky to get it off me.It was an experience,I'll be back Daniel...

In addition to the great makers already mentioned, I should add
Dan Burke. Bailey Bradshaw also makes a nice slipjoint.

Got to agree with the vote for P. J. Tomes. I have one of his lockback trappers and the stag he put on it is super. I love his flat grinds too. It all makes for a really clean overall look. The Tomes knife I got was used when I bought it (although it doesn't have a scratch on it) and I bought it for a song and dance. It's the only really nice custom I ever got for a really good price.

I can't believe I forgot to include him on my list.
