Hey, I grew up in Toledo(well, until I was 11). My Dad's side of the family is still there. You have your boat on Lake Erie?

Oh man, how'd I miss this? Look at the curve on that one. Perfect. The chiruwa handled katanas just balance so much better than the hidden tang ones. I don't have any HI scabbards like this; rare all around.

Hi Norm

You must have visions of new Shelby's in your eyes causing you to miss this sword.. Lucky for me.

Ted, my boat is in Marblehead between the lighthouse and Cedar point.

Dont run it west past the islands any more due to gas cost.
Its cheaper for me to go out on a head boat in Port Clinton and they put you over the walleye.

I grew up in Parma, but my best friends Dad had a boat in the same place. We spent lots of time back then boating, fishing, diving and generally enjoying the place...frequent visitors to Cedar Point too.

Chuck and I got in trouble one year though...in High Scool, we decided to cut class one day to take a couple of girls with us on a little trip across the lake to get fireworks. The Coast Guard stopped us and weren't real happy...called his Dad who had to come get us.

You know...sheephead are sometimes called the poor mans lobster. You can chunk them up into bite sized pieces and steam them and then serve with butter like you would lobster pieces. Not bad eatin' if you miss out on the Walleye, Perch or Smallies.

Okay, what are you guys calling Sheephead/ Sheepshead?
The only Sheephead/Sheepshead fish I know of is a salt water fish that we would occasionally catch in Florida. IIRC they had a mouth full of very sharp teeth and you had to use a wire leader in order to catch them without them biting your line in two.

Ditto on that. Didn't want to further derail the (wonderful) katana post, but our Gulf of Mexico Sheepshead are striped fish with small mouths- they steal bait like crazy.

Tasty; caught around bridges. Has a Yankee relative? :)

Hi Guys

scientific name- Aplodinotus grunniens

common names sheephead, Freshwater drum
silver grey in color
native to Ohio
in lake erie less then 20lbs
in rivers can reach 40lbs

they steel bait while walleye fishing and nobody around here knows how to clean them or eat them so they are considered a trash fish along with carp.

So I think they will make a great target to test my sword.

Take Care

Hi All

Picked up my sword today at the post office.
It arrived unharmed.
Cleaned and polished it a few times .Then did a 2 handed staff kata with it instead of a sword kata until I get used to the weight.

It is more then I expected and certanly looks to be a real weapon
Sharp and thick and solid.

Thanks
Alan
