Ok, help me out. I sold my edc (Lon Humphrey Whitetail) fixed blade and want to try something new. The Whitetail was to thick at the spine and to short in the handle. I carry a 7" oal GL Drew drop point full flat grind with 52100 sporadically in a belt sheath, but want to have an option of something smaller as well.

What Im looking for:

Traditional Style
Full Tang
6" to 6.75" OAL
3.5" or over in the handle
Higher end Steel
Not a lot of blade height
On the thinner side for thickness
Can be carried in pocket sheath or on the belt so I prefer the handle not have a lot of thickness to it

What I am considering: Any comparison pics of these would be helpful and appreciated.

BRKT Mini Fox River s35vn - Not sure about the ergonomics
BRKT Mini Bushcraft 3v - I love how thin it is but Ive never had a scandi grind. For an edc I may want better edge retention, though I am leaning towards this one.
BRKT Bravo EDC - Elmax - This may be to large but I like the ergonomics of it.

Not interested in Busse, ESEE, Survive!, Buck, Kabar for this knife.

What I have tried:

Brkt PSK (Elmax) Mini Canadian (A2), and Lil Creek (A2)
Arno Bernard Bush Baby Series: Anniversary knife, Squirrel, and Dassie (All N690)

This would be used for light duty to medium use 99% of the time but I would like it to hold up if needed for heavier task.

Thanks for any help and of course pics.

Ditto on the EK&T Companion!

It's handy, light, sharp, and quite easy on the eyes. (Pick and change your scales at will!)

Extra bonuses: it's affordable and Mr. Evans cares about his product and customers.

Slightly longer but nice & thin.

Dwayne "Duck" Cildress neckers, can also find a little longer blades, various steels.

How about something like my Companion?

Kind of a mini nessmuk in great steel and modern materials.

Ive really considered it and the Guardian 3.
Neither are in a traditional style imo and dont seem to have a long enough handle. They seem to fill the palm but dont extend far enough for the pinky to rest comfortably. If each offered a wooded grip I would be more tempted.

Thank you for the suggestion though. It is a great looking knife.

To big. Trying to stay under 7" with a 3.5" handle.

Thanks though

Another vote for the companion. Had mine for about a month or so and everyone in my squad constantly is asking to use it

Just wanted to update this before letting the thread drift off. I went with a Bark River Pro Scalpel II with Elmax.

Congrats on the pro scalpel 2, enjoy and let us know how you like it. Get some dirt time, or snow time with winter coming.

Will do. It usually takes me a few weeks to get past the, "I got a new knife honeymoon stage," to figure out if I actually like it or not. Im hoping this one fits the bill.

Just an update for anyone interested:

I went ahead and ordered both the Bark River Pro Scalpel II and the Bark River Bravo EDC.

To early to know which I like better but out of the box the Scalpel II fits my hand perfectly. Here's a few pics. Sorry for the bad lighting.

Compared to a CRK Small 21 Insingo, Bark River Gunny Hunter, & GEC 73

Nice Brett!
Thanks for the size comparison.
I've been looking at getting the BR bravo EDC with a rampless spine and it ground down to a subtle drop point. It's great that Bark River will do any of those mods for free with just a trip back to the factory.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate that buddy. The drop point edc is one Im looking at as well but it's on down the list. I just wish they did a drop point with a ramp. I may have one modded :D

All the best buddy. Thank you by the for the donation. I really appreciate that.
