Head weight is 1 lb. plus or minus an ounce.

Cutting edges are just under 4". Back of the eye to the edge is @ 5 1/2" for the middle one, the other two are @ 5 3'4".

I make them from mild steel and "superquench" them which makes them very tough with about an Rc 43+. For an explanation see: http://www.cvbg.org/tips/superquench.PDF

The hickory handles are 18" long.

Over the past 10 years or so, I've made & sold over 10,000 of these to the fur trade re-enactors.

Price $40.00 each plus $10.00 shipping CONUS...email/paypal keith@greatriverforge.com All are sold

Thanks for looking

SUPERQUENCH?????? The witches in Macbeth could have stirred that into their pot: "wing of bat, eye of newt, dash of superquench" I cannot believe some of the recipes that you blacksmiths use with such great results. That Rc 45 has got to be about perfect for an ax: hard enough to stay sharp yet easy to resharpen.

My grandson and I got to throw a hawk for the first time this summer when we attended a redevzous in Minnesota. I want one of those for my shop so I can throw it at the rabbits when they get in the garden. When will you have more?

Gerry

I can't wait to get mine. Along with the Beck Nessmuk I just rec. well I'll just be a surviving fool in the bush. Lets see my Hamilton Scorpion longbow, my Great River hawk, Beck Nessmuk, Colt .45acp on my hip and pit bull next to my side. I'll be ready for some serious stump shooting I'll tell ya that. keepem sharp

what are the different styles? what's the colonial or french style? can you do it with darker stained hickory and a heart shape cut out in the head?
