I know not everyone gets to wear jeans on a daily basis but we all do wear them sometimes. Also I would dare say most of us don't keep a watch in the watch pocket...(yes, I know some of you do). Personally I normally keep a small slip joint in there instead. Like most of us I do carry several knives daily. On an average day I will have a larger pocket clip knife like my Mcusta made Browning Ice Storm and in my watch pocket a more social type of knife. I like the watch pocket because it is much easier than digging all the way to the bottom of my pocket and it also keeps my small knives looking nice as they are not rubbing up against change and such.

If I am not carrying a pocket clip knife then there is a SAK in the tool pocket of my carpenter jeans or more recently a trapper in a belt sheath. Some people in social situations are uncomfortable when a large knife is produced so that is when my "social knife" comes into play. These smaller knives in addition to being less intimidating are also what I would call my pretty knives. Of course I will at times have a large purty knife, such as one of my Bulldogs or Fight'n Roosters, in the belt sheath but in some times and places smaller is better.

What got me thinking about this is I have in the past bought a knife based on it's size, my newest Fight'n Rooster is a case in point. Slightly smaller than a Peanut, closed it resembles a small yellow hot pepper in size, shape, and color.

This is about the average size of my watch pocket knives. I do have a few miniatures but they are too small to use for my hands. Here are the others I carry in the watch pocket.

from left to right...Fight'n Rooster - Laguiole - Opinel #3 - Case Tiny Toothpick - Case Baby Butterbean - Case Peanut - and below the Peanut a CRKT Turtle

Who else carries in the watch pocket and what do you carry there?

Depending on the jeans I'm wearing on a particular day the choices range from a Bill Ruple stockman to a Case 3318 stockman and a whole host of other small custom and production slipjoints in between.

A useful place to carry imho.

Many of my dress pants also have a watch or change pocket up near the waistband (in fact, I often check for such a pocket nowadays when buying pants). That is where I keep my Case peanut, which is my "white-collar" edc for work. I plan to add a GEC #25 barlow shortly, which looks to be a good watch pocket size.

I wear blue jeans everyday, its all I own..
I usually don't carry anything in the watch pocket because I'm always bendin down and climbin around on stuff, so I don't want to have to worry about it slippin out..
Have been think more lately about pickin up a nice old pocket watch :D

My Vic Classic fits with room to spare- handy and very sheeple friendly.

Most of the knives I carry fit very comfortably in there. Unfortunately I gotta wait a few more years until I can wear them every day, but hey there is always the weekend. :D

For a long time it was this Camillus small stockman that i made into a whittler(blades were broken anyway by previous owner)

But since my emergency house keys also go in that pocket, I've stopped carrying the knife there, most of my new jeans don't have room for both.

Made me realize that I miss carrying it.. :(

Depends on the jeans. some have larger watch pockets than others. But I carry either a Copperhead, Canoe, Peanut, or a Medium Stockman. Normally it is the Canoe.

I find anything bigger than what I listed jabs me when I sit down, especially in a car. All my jeans are Carhartts...maybe it is the way the pocket is done on those or maybe it is a bit smaller...don't know. That is the biggest reason I went with a belt sheath, so I could carry my larger stockmans and such and still protect them from pocket change and such.

Wade, my Carhartt jeans' watch pockets are noticeably less commodious than those of my Levi's or other jeans.

i wear levi's 517 bootcut and my alpha dorado fits almost perfectly:thumbup:
usually something yeller in the front pocket... you raise a great point though i find my self instictively going for the dorado in the watch pocket and have to constantly tell myself to use the people friendly yeller stockman:)
depends on the company i'm in:D
cheers

I telecommute and thus wear jeans everyday. Most days, my Case peanut rides to and fro in the watch pocket of my Lee or Wrangler jeans.

Recently its been a GEC Wharncliffe Barlow, prior to that a rotation between a Schrade Peanut, and a Spydero Lava, Salsa and Poliwog.
