Traditionals in the Wild (Pic Heavy)

I hiked out for a quick overnighter this weekend. Nothing fancy, just hanging by the fire with some buds

I spent a little time getting acquainted with a new friend, El Presidente :)

We were up before dawn, had some coffee and headed out. Thanks for looking!

LOL, I have eaten worms before, but Ramen tastes better and doesn't wiggle on the way down

Daniel, I'm loving the thread brother. That fire shot is one of the better ones I have seen.

I wish Smithhammer was still around to treat us to his knives in the wild shots. I was hoping this thread would have tempted him back onto the porch.

Thanks Brett! That was a two foot piece of fatwood on the fire:). I agree about smithhammer. I'd like to think he's just so deep in the wild, he doesn't have internet.

what great pics!

Thanks bud. I'm headed back out in a couple of days so hopefully I will have more to contribute then. The forecast is a high of 75 and a low of 60 with no humidity. Unusually outstanding camping weather for February in NC. Quite the blessing!

We've been taking advantage of the warm February weather. My boys and I took a hike with our Boy Scout troop this past Sunday.

The boys caught some crayfish and ate them. They used a ramen flavor packet for seasoning in place of Old Bay seasoning. The tiny taste I had was delicious.

Went exploring over my long weekend!
I brought along my trusty woods companion, my (70s to 80s, brass liners) OC Farmer.

Oh my what a beautiful old farmer! I have a well loved pioneer just like it. Gotta love the old cross alox vics.

yeah, nice old farmer there. love seeing the beat up alox vics. and travman, how long did you boil those crayfish? 5 min? been intending to try that.

Nothing fancy but some buddies and I hiked out Friday for a quick overnighter. The weather was fantastic!

The sunset was beautiful on the way up

Venison tenderloin for dinner. We ate like kings, took a night hike up the mountain, then hung out around the fire until bedtime.

Thanks bro, it is a great pattern. It was very well loved by the previous owner, I've actually only had this one a couple of weeks. It's a little big for my EDC tastes but it makes a mean whittler and general utility knife on the trail. Plus, it's purty :)

An unexpected Friday off and a cold snap convinced me that I needed to head out for one last overnighter before the warmth and humidity of spring arrives. Luckily I keep a bag packed and some bacon in the fridge.

The time change afforded me a little more daylight to get to camp.
