That's some great stag and a nice earned patina!
 
Kabar Medium Stockman; my ARNG pocketknife from the late 1990's through the mid 2000's - been around the world with me and picked up it's patina doing everything you do with a pocketknife.

Imperial EO from WW-II era - don't know where it's been exactly, but I'm sure it's been around the world too and earned it's patina - in this picture it's just the way I bought it several years ago. OH

^^^^Love that imperial jack. I'm sure it has quite a story to tell being from that time period.
 
That's why carbon steel and bone has soul. The stainless SAK that I've used every day for 15 years just looks worn out.
 
Here's a Northwoods stockman goingon one year old next month. So far an ever changing patina is building from anything from ham and swiss on rye with mustard, salted eel for crab bait, some panfish bellies and guts, cheese slice up for crackers out in the woods, Splitting a pastrami on rye with mustard with the better half, an apple now and then.

I've noticed that fish and game impart a nice blueish tinge tot he patina.

Jackknife, how do you clean the joints after using the knife? Anytime I flush the joints after use like that it takes a lot of oil with it.

That night I just give it a wash with very warm dish detergent, dry it off, and a drop or two of mineral oil in the joints. Since I'm not cleaning fish with it on a real regular basis, it mostly just gets wiped off with a damp cloth and dried. I don't go overboard with oil.
