i want to know what is the longest continuous period of time that u have carried the same knife
i have carried my W.R. Case Pocket Worn Bermuda Green Medium Stockman for about a year and a half now
i want to set a challenge for who ever reads this thread i challenge u to pick one knife and carry it for the next year

thank you

I'm game..... but I think I'll wait to start the clock until Jan. first...... want to see what santa brings!;)

There was a time I EDC'ed 1 knife for 2 years. That was my pre-traditional knife love affair period. It was a BM 1 hander w/pocket clip. I know that I would fail miserably trying it with a slippie. Too many patterns, scale material etc. that would sorely test my perseverance, I mean a man has gotta know his limitations...right?:D

I carried the same knife for all ten years in the military..... benchmade. But now that I have growed up, I'm back to slippies!;)

I am in, however I should also start by January first ^^

I think I carried Leatherman Micra for 3 or 4 years.... I never counted but it was always there.

We've walked down that road before, friend. Click here. :)

I for one, won't be attempting it again. Research shows that every knife knut who tries to carry just one knife for an entire year will die.

I must be dying because I have carried an old Benchmade Crawford design Leopard Cub for the past 14 years. One thing I wanted the ATS-34 blade , and it has been sharpened until no more curve , almost straight. It does everything I want it to do including skinning out my sons bowkill deer several years ago.

Longest carry; my old Buck 301 stockman. I bought it in an army PX in 1967, and carried it till the early 90's non stop. It got semi-retired when my co-worker Andy passed away and I inherited his 303 Buck cadet.

Second longest was the Camillus scout knife my dad gave me when I turned 12. It got 8 years of regular carry, then stashed away when I joined the army. I gave it to my son when he turned 12, and he's still carrying it once in a while in his pocket. He's a police officer these days.

I can't do the one year thing, I tried it before and caved. :o

I carried a Spyderco Delica daily for about 5 years straight. I've got too many knives now for that to happen again.

I bought a GEC EZ Open about three weeks ago and told myself that I was going to carry it for a month straight..........That lasted about 4 days!!! I just can't do it. Not that I don't like the GEC, I just want to carry some others. I would love to carry just one knife for a year and put it to some real good use, but I just can't!! I think I would have to sell all but one and have my bank account and credit cards frozen to pull it off!!

Let's stick to traditional knives in this forum...thanks.

I carried a Gerber Chameleon for 8 yrs. Now I have owned to many and know better about quality knives. Now I have carried my Case Chestnut Stockman the longest. Around 4 months or a little longer.

Used a Camillus Boy Scout pattern folder daily from about age twelve ( first knife I bought with my own money) - until it was stolen at around age 20. Went out and bought another one - never seemed to be able to hold onto to 'em for more than a couple or three years after that - went thru a bunch of 'em until sometime in my 30's when locking blades took over for EDU duty.

First knife my dad gave me and it still get pocket time some 49 years later.

I carried my BSA Kamp King through most of jr. high and high school. In college and after, I carried a SAK Spartan. Then started carrying a knife again about 7 years ago. I carried a BM940 for a year, a Sebenza for another 2 years, and then got back into traditionals.

For me, traditionals are like clothes. I have suits for dress up, casual clothes for everyday wear, and working clothes that can take a beating. Slipjoints are the same way. Different knives for different purposes/days, and for different moods. I can't imagine wearing the same set of clothes every day. I don't need the variety, but I do want it.

I know many old timers got by just fine with one knife. They also got by with much less clothing. I've lived in a handful of homes here in New England that were a century old, give or take. The closets, even in the master bedrooms, were only the width of the closet door itself. That's just enough room for one or two changes of work clothes, plus a suit for Saturday dancing and Sunday go-to-meeting. I'll gladly admit that I have more than 3 changes of clothes. Same with slipjoints. I like having options, and I like the variety.

That's a great knife, Bastid. Did the secondary blades start out as a spey and sheepsfoot? The left blade almost looks like a pen blade.

An Electricians knife every work day for 3 years as a Union Electrician
Well before I was collecting knives

When I was smoking a pipe, a pipe knife with a blade, thin pick with a tamper for 10 years

I need to take a good(for me) picture of this knife by its self. Bottom Remington easily has the most pocket time due mostly to it being my carry to work knife.

I've had a Victorinox Classic either on my keychain or in my pocket for more than 10 years.

Although I don't know if it "counts" as per the OP because I've replaced it a few times - but it's always been a Victorinox Classic.
Also, it's not been my primary knife on any given day.

I carried a Case medium stockman for about 6-8 years in the 70's. Then I switched to a Case medium (very traditional patterned) trapper for about 3 years. The only reason I quit carrying those knives was that I wore out my jeans with tool bags riding on them all the time. The tool bags wore a knife silhouette through my jean pockets in no time.

Also, I heard the siren's call of stainless steel. I bought a Case trapper in SS, and it was a wonderful knife in one respect as I finally had a knife that wouldn't rust shut in my sweaty pocket. But the Case SS of the 80's (how could that be 25 years ago  ) didn't hold and edge well. Not at all.

I strayed away from slipjoints after that.

I sure loved carrying those old Case carbon steel stockman knives. They were by far and away my favorite slipjoints. I still have one, and I get a kick out of just carrying it around these days.
