Take a peek at Hoka's trail lineup, I use their ATR for both hiking and running- very cushy shoe with a decent outsole . I run a fair bit (35-50 miles/week) so I will rotate my shoes up quite a bit- the shoes vary in their stack height, weight, outsole and drop- this rotation helps keep injuries at bay. I currently rotate four pair of shoes- the aforementioned ATR's, Pearl Izumi N2 Trail, La Sportiva Mutants and Altra Olympus.
My suggestion is getting your shoes from a source that actually let you try them out- there are several, one I use is roadrunner sports lets you try them out for 90 days, if not happy exchange them. Not talking about walking around the house, you can use them- hard, if they don't work out- simply exchange them.
Fit is king for shoes.
