Trail jogging rc3 or rc4?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I appreciate them. I bought an izula thinking lighter is better. I'm more likely to have it with me but it has smaller reach. I think the chance is extremely low I'll need it, so I'll go with the lightest I can.

I'll let you know how it works.

From all the product reviews I have seen on the RC-3 and RC-4's I would have to say the RC-4.

I am not a knife expert, but from what I have seen the RC-4 should do the trick.

As far as ticks, the RC-4 should work good in cutting them in half to kill them after you have picked them off your body :), so in a way it is good for tick defense as well :)

The Nessmuk book had a recipe for a good anti-bug rub you put on to keep EVERYTHING off of you in the woods. I don't want to get off topic here but if I find a good section for that recipe I will post it in this forum.

Wilderness and Survival would be a great spot for that and I am anxiously waiting for you to post the info....
Thanks

I'd probly go with a spyderco para military I dont really think a fixed blade is gonna make a huge difference in short trail runs, when I mountain bike I carry a spyderco native clipped to my hydration pack, thats only cause I dont want to lose my para military mountain biking. however when i go for long hikes in the mountains where if you hurt yourself or your buddies hurt themselves and you need to make fire and shelter fast, I carry a small fixed blade to be able to batton through small trees /logs . Currently I carry a rat3 in my trail bag, I think I am going to get a rat4 though, a little more beefy for the intended use without much weight gain. either that or a Bark River Bravo.
