It was such a nice day, I went for a short walk. Went looking for the tadpoles, and there were still quite a few. Ran into a little wildlife.
Few too many people, tho.

Great pictures. That frog looks like he wants to be an alligator :) Sitting there with his head poking out of the water...

Thanks for sharing.

It looked like a garter snake on steroids. Thanks for the pics. Lately, I have been longing for nature hikes. Every undisturbed hill I see, I want to climb up, just to hear the silent sound of uncivilized ground.

that appears to be a large garter snake... Thanks for sharing...THey can get fairly large actually

I used to live in Columbus!
That Garter Snake looks kinda odd though, do you have a close up of its head?
That body tensed up is a sign that he knew he's been seen.

Cool pics. Was the Garter snakes eyes cloudy or blueish?

Looks like he is in desperate need to shed...

From the shape of the tail that snake appear to be a she.

Great photos. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I've seen some huge ones, and the big ones tend to warm up and head out first from the dens, especially females.
funny thing is that some males can produce the female pheromones when they are really cold, attracts their buddies to warm them up, and then bam, they are off to the ladies!
I grew up not to far from one of the biggest garter snake pits in western canada.
