So besides GORP what are some of your favorites ?

Get your chunky nuts :D

Love that commercial. Because I always parachute to my camping spot, and bring fresh cold milk with me :D

The usual suspects... trail mix, kippers, jerky etc. Guess I'm kinda boring...

I always bring some sort of protein bar that is between 300-500 calories, usually two in the pack for a day along with an apple and some beef jerky. If I know I'll be stopping for an extended lunch/picnic I'll adjust accordingly to more of a full lunch meal.

Cliff bars. Apples, oranges, almonds mixed with dried cranberries, and tuna packets.

I have a few Cases of MREs too that I break out for some hikes, just for a trip down memory lane.

Pemmican, dried fruits, depending on the time of year gathered nuts or berries. If I want to trip down memory lane I would have to find C-Rats...I have never tasted an MRE. Of course I could just do what Grylls does and order room service...lol.

Hmm. Trail mix, jerky, GORP (which is composed strictly of raisins and peanuts), gronola, moist sweet calorie-laden cakey devices, the original, chewy, Power Bars.
Car camping- toast and Jiffy Pop.
Cabin- pancakes.

I prefer to take my own Deer Jerky and maybe some trail mix. Other than that, I don't take anything to eat, unless an overnighter.

I make my own pemmican. Home rendered beef tallow and pulverized jerky. Not exactly tasty but it is the best high energy trail food of all time. Just a bit will have me going 8 hours easy until hunger sets in. The perfect food for the human body.

trail mix with lots of raisins. beef jerky. and smoked salmon. i love smoked salmon, cant get enough of the stuff.

i also like to take an apple or orange. bananas as well.

but i like trying to find things on the trail to eat while im walkin. blackberries grow like weeds here in the summer and there are plenty of other wild edibles around.

I like fresh fruit (oranges, apples, pears), granola bars, cheese and crackers, almonds, and fresh berries (blueberries and huckleberries). My weird one is gourmet jellybeans.

I'm of the same opinion. I like to pack some trail mix and then, if the season is right, look for local edibles. Apple season in my neck of the woods is always a treat. The trail system that I hike regularly cuts through some old, unused fields that are often bordered by apple trees. One can often find tart, juicy McIntosh and Spartan apples, and the occasional pear. I'll take a small but flavourful wild apple over irradiated but bland grocery store fare any day!

Best,

bagels, brick of cheese, raisans/sunflower seeds (hulled + teriakyed), orange or two, dried apricots/kiwi/apples, pepperroni, cans of tuna in oil, beef jerky, dried chorizo sausage, powerbars, dried fruit bars, yogurt/chocalate covered raisans and almonds......

jellybeans.

aw man, jelly beans on the trail. why didnt i think of that? i love eating jelly beans at home, never thought of taking them on the trail.

i also forgot to add pesto covered salami with a brick of cracker barrel marbled cheese.

If you haven't tried it, a simple mix of salted cashews and raisins is very tasty.

^ oh heck ya!!!! hot gypsy salami!

dude, nothing like pesto covered salami and cracker barrel cheese skewers,

throw in a few piece of sliced bell peppers and onions and maybe even a few cherry tomatos and you've got yourself a fine meal.

warmed over a portable wood stove and ur golden.
