Hi all here is one I actual finished just before Blade West but did not have it dressed yet. I have decided I am to the point I need to start doing some of my own leather work so I had my friends wife Sally Martin give me a sheath making lesson. She has made many of my sheaths in the past.

Blade is ATS-34 hand rubbed to 800 grit. Blade is 4 5/8" from tip to bolster and is 1 3/16" wide and is 3/16" thick. Handle is 4 1/2" long from front of bolster to the end of the handle. Overall is 9 1/4" long.

Bolsters are 304 stainless and has Sally Martin mosaic pins. Scales are K&G stabilized California Buckeye Burl.

Sheath is made by me, my very first one. Instructed by Sally Martin, Thanks Sally.

Hope you all like it.

Mike that looks good I am not a big fan of mosaic pins but those look very nice on that knife. nice job

I really like that one!

What material did you use between the wood and the steel? If any!

Very nice sheath too!

Thanks guys.

Dave, That is the one you got to handle at Blade West. I got a lot of compliments on the mosaic pins. I personally don't like them either but wanted to do something different and a friend/ fellow maker's wife makes them and want to help them out by getting them some pin sales.

Steve, Nothing between the wood and steel just epoxy.

Thanks Peter and TKC. Let me tell you it is hard to find California Buckeye Burl that looks that nice, you should see the pile of scrap waste just to get a few nice pieces :(.

Beautiful knife Mike. I like your take on the mosaic pins and lanyard tube. The sheath looks good especially for your first but I worry about the tip coming out the front. That trailing point will catch inside someday and cut right through the leather. Ask me how I know. I honestly think thats why there are so many drop points, just because its so hard to make a sheath for a trailing point. I personally like the trailing point best.

Thanks Guys.

Hey Bruce, thanks for the heads up I just was playing with it and I can see how if you jab that thing in a hurry and don't get it going straight in how it could just cut right through the side. I just sent you a PM I would like to give you a call on this.
