Found this out today while browsing YouTube, then looked it up on CS's website and it's true, the Trailmaster now comes with the proprietary Secure-Ex sheaths.

Personally, this makes the knife just so much more attractive to me. It's a big deal to me whether or not the knife comes with a decent sheath, or if I have to go through the hassle of making my own out of Kydex.

So now the Trailmaster has quite a few things going for it now (5/16-inch thickness, mainly), and it's a great all-around package in my opinion.

How do you guys feel about the new sheathing system? Does it make you re-evaluate a purchase of a Trailmaster?

Nope. For the money they charge I can get a hell of a lot better for a hell of a lot less.

I'd also like to know. Better? Or just maybe a bit worse but it's much less expensive? Like the Ka-Bar LHB, Ontario Marine Raider, or BK9?

Hmm like what?

Exactly, the trail master is an excellent k I've and even though those knives mentioned are less expensive I agree they don't compare to the trail master

I plan on getting one. I sold my leather sheathed one a while ago. And really like the secure-ex that I have on recon scout. So I think I may need to get another one.

Thanks for the heads up.

I considered the Trailmaster a few years ago when I was looking for a large fixed blade but decided on an Ontario RTAK II. The RTAK has worked out very well so I have no regrets. I also like the nylon sheath with tool pouch that it comes with.

Hmmm. I have a Recon Scout, but been on the fence with buying a Trailmaster for the past year or so. This just might tip me over.....

OK you have the Dumpster Mutt Dogfather. 100 Bucks cheaper and will be honored over one year after purchase. When in doubt go with materials and warrenty. Nothing wrong with the trailmaster but quickly sold mine after paying with the Dogfather at a knife show last year. NEVER looked back and never regreted it.

The change to kydex is a great idea, although I already ordered a kydex sheath from a maker a while ago for my carbon v Trailmaster. I'm really happy to see the new, less expensive, Natchez bowie ,coming with a kydex sheath.
[I also wonder in what dimension ,our emphatic friend above, thinks he can get a much better bowie for a "hell of a lot less" ? ]

i can not find the new sheath, show me..........thanx
