Trailmaster Now Comes with Secure-Ex

I'd also like to know. Better? Or just maybe a bit worse but it's much less expensive? Like the Ka-Bar LHB, Ontario Marine Raider, or BK9?

I don't like the handle on the Trailmaster, it's not very nice and you can't keep moisture out of it, so the handle can rust underneath the grip when it gets wet. I bought one along with a Recon Scout when I first started collecting knives and they were the first knives that I returned for refund. Also the design of the blade is such that I consider it to be more prone to snapping off at the hilt during hard use. A couple of minor improvements and I would own both. No "hate" here, just simple logic.

Can we buy the sheath seperately? The leather sheath sucks, it scratches the blade really bad...

Have you actually found the rust underneath the rubber handels on your trailmaster and recon scout? and also did you actually break your knives in hard use? if not, then your logic needs nore logic:D personally I really like the handel, it's really comfortable and it adsorbs a lot of shock.

CS has been making the trailmaster for decades, it's been approved by numerous owners that it's tough enough for any jobs you put it into, so if the pros haven't decided to change the design, then I believe there's really no need to do it:D

Rats.. I just bought the trailmaster a few months ago with the leather sheath. I just emailed Customer service to see if I could swap or just buy the Secure Ex sheath by itself.

I would much prefer the kydex sheath for this knife.

I only found the Kydex Trailmaster on their website,at the steeper price.Checked out a couple other sites and no go.

Not here to make a problem, the new sheaths look nice.

I think I saw somewhere the GI Tanto also coming with a securex sheath as well - def an improvement.

Well, I got my first Trail Master for $79 brand new w/black blade. 2 weeks later, they went on sale for $39. I could'nt believe it. I called & ordered another & they said it was the last one they had. Gave it to my daughter (she is my outdoorsman). I think i got a fantastic deal. I always modify my sheaths to make them fit/work for me. To me, it has to NOT stick me in the side w/handle when I sqat down or get into/out of vehicles. I made it work just fine with just a few mods.

I have since found some EXCELLENT MADE IN THE USA knives that are equal IMO to the CS Trail Master, at an excellent price point. "Ontario Knife Company" I like Made in the USA better. Do you know of anyone who has broken a 1/4" thick or 3/8" thick blade, that was not throwing it ? I don't.

39 bucks? that's the deal of the century:D

looks killer in the new sheath. i could go for one of those.
i have my leather-sheathed Trail Master sitting beside me now -what a bad ass knife :eek::thumbup:

I see that several of the models are getting a secure-ex upgrade like the gi-tanto and the shanghai shadow.

So you guys all like yours? Maybe thinking about getting one, if you don't have one? I am deliberating on whether or not to get the Trailmaster or the Junglas. Any suggestions?
