Wondering the train tracks the other day, foraging, when I cam across a pile of broken porcelain. Normally I would be looking for steel, but when I saw this I thought sharpening stone.

So I brought home a pile, attached a peice to backer, lapped it with a cheap diamond hone and tried it out.

It is very hard, probably around hard arkansas in terms of grit. Slow cutting but leaves a mirror edge.

I hate to be the one to say it but it needs to be said, taking anything from around a rail road track is theft. I know lots of guys do it but just needed to pass this along so at least you have been warned.

Thank you, that is a very good point.

I decided to share this because a lot of people look for metal in many places, yard sales, flea markets, ect, but don't really think about sharpening stones.
