Training Knives

The mesh isn't what I'd consider "fine". The wire that makes up the mesh is approximately 1/8" in diameter and the holes in the mesh are 3/8". The mesh wraps around you head so that it covers the face, top and sides of the head. I have seen rattan split & splinter on the head gear, but have never seen any evidence of it penetrating through the holes. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I doubt that it would.

The biggest deficiencies in the design are that it leaves the back of your head unprotected (as a western style fencing mask does) and it doesn't protect the throat/neck at all. I've been playing with the idea of attaching thick pieces of leather to the front to offer some sort of protection to the throat/neck.

I wish I had a picture of the head gear that I could post. It would answer a lot of questions.

Happy Turkey Day to all!!!

Saw an article in Tactical Knives a few years ago about a guy in Texas who made neoprene training knives. So I bought two one in a Endura shape and one in a Emerson profile. They also come in two hardness's, the softer one's are thicker too. Neither are
very good for disarms, but the softer one is excellent for full contact sparring, the hard can be a little tough on ribs. I also like to use them on non-knife people in a reverse grip, to show them the potential of bladed weapons. If anyone wants the name, and
number# of the gentleman let me know.
