Ipe, also called Brazilian Walnut is one of the hardest woods in the world, with a Janka hardness of 3680 (lignum vitae is 4500, oak is 1280). Very tight grained wood. Works up quite nicely and should be pretty durable
That looks great. I recently acquired a bunch of ipe and have used it on a couple knives already. The ipe I got is a gorgeous red with some curl to it. Might have to put some on a folder.
