Transformers movie is finally starting to take life.

C'mon! Transformers were too cool for school. You had to watch Voltron.:D :D

For those of you who like your giant robots a little more serious in tone, definitely check out the Gundam mega-genre/series.

Yup, got excited when I saw the poster that it's coming out next year. Man! Can't wait!!!

I think the lions was first wasn't it? I'll date myself by asking who remembers G-Force? Well before any of the these.

my god you guys are lame excuse's for human beings-lol

cant wait to see how much you get your panties in a uproar when the next power ranger movie comes out

nver did care much for the rangers too much like old godzilla movies there was an old Japanse live action robot show but I can't think of the name right now it was cool too. I think some of the bots even fouth mothra and other godzilla foes.

G-Force was one my earliest cartoon memories. Good stuff.
What about...
Star Blazers! That was a cool show too.

Don't recall that one.

Geez I forgot all about the Globots.

Actually, I was just kidding. I don't think I ever saw more than a few episodes of Gobots. I think I got some Gobot toys when my mother couldn't find the Transformers toys one year for my b-day. I was a big Voltron fan too. I went through an anime phase in high school, the Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell robots trounce the Transformers and Voltron IMHO.

Does anyone remember a cartoon from the mid to late 80's, about a group of heroes that wore armor that looked like hawks etc? They even had a guy with some type of guitar weapon. They could fly around in space in their armor. They weren't on the air for long, but I remember that I had some toys from the show. I thought it was Star Hawks, or Buzz Hawks, but nothing came up on IMDB. It was an American show, no anime, but definite anime feel.

Just found the title, Silverhawks. Looks like a lot more anime than I remember.

Silverhawks had great heros, but the villians were kind of dumb, and IMO the show suffered for it.
As far as Star Blazers go..... It was basically a show about the crew of a space-carrier with a HUMONGOUS cannon on the front, called the wave-motion gun. Here's a pic:

A little known fact about this show: It started the English expression "What in the Blazers was that?"

I thought the premise was a little dumb, but really liked Star Blazers. It was the first cartoon I really remember watching that wasn't Looney Toons. I have a friend that will go apoplectic with joy when he finds out there's going to be a live-action Transformers movie. I had about 20 of those back in the day, but I wasn't allowed to get Megatron (the original gun version) like I wanted. I also wasn't allowed to get the one that became the boom-box -which I really thought was kinda cool as you could get the bird and dog "cassettes." The BEST bar-none was that huge one which basically ripped off Gundam Wing. THAT one was always cool, while the lamest one was the other original transformer who changed into a gun. He had his "trigger" right where his member might be. He also looked REALLY goofy because he was over-sized and purple.

Anyhoo, I had go-bots, but they were kinda like the poor-kids Transformers. Voltron was one of my favorites because it had the lions. The show with the vehicles ruined the series IMHO. I'm hope the movie will be cool. At least they have the original show to pull from, unlike most video-game movies. I'd think a Star Blazers movie would be awesome as well. Just think what the CGI shot of the wave-cannon destroying a planet would be like. Cool!!!
