Translations of script on old Khuks

Yep she went out to the mailmox today before I got home looking for that second Mini AKBbb.bbbbowie!! Just hope she uses the spine this time:eek:
Oh dang, ndog's reached the next level and developed a stutter, I betbet its from the many beatings.

I'll post some pics of a "patch knife" when Photobucket lets me log in. I also studied forging swords and Danish bearded axes under Jens Christensen in Denmark.

LoL, Ndog. I have lost a couple of my best knives that way. Being second to the mailbox SUCKS! Fortunately I don't have the worry of having if used against me, but If hubby gets there first he feels any packages that day are his. Of course being a male he usually forgets soon afterwards and the knife reverts back to my custody. But there have been a couple he put into rotation for EDC that I originally planned for myself. I have gone so far as to rent a post office box at Christmas to have his presents delivered to just so he doesn't get them out of the mailbox and acquire them early thinking they were meant for me... not that I would suggest you deceive your wife in such a way but...nah!

Here are a few photos as promised.

[/IMG] I had always wanted a dagger, so I took some Wood Mizer saw blades from Sweden and some odds and ends laying about in the shop and a hundred and fifty some layers later, I had a dagger this time instead of a patch knife. Have a friend who makes knives as a business/hobby so I called in some favors to use his equipment to get the blade so exact and shiny.

Made tomahawks for years. In Denmark, I learned how to make the Danish "bearded ax". Rather like a tomahawk. The shop was a little dark so the photos are a little grainy, but you'll get the idea.

Bookie,
Sir you do some fine work, that blade is sweet and as a hawk guy I love the look of that bearded axe, probably came out amazing as well.

I always liked Bearded Axes. I figured if I ever really had to deal with the EndofTheWorldAsWeKnowIt or a Zombie appocalyps that a good medium hafted bearded axe would be the most effective and utilitarily diverse use tool that anyone could get their hands on. The only problem is that most of them seem to be made a bit heavy for my poor female arm and shoulder muscles to have really good control of swings.

The camp or woman's axes are 3/4 size. Children's are 1/3 size. Handles are scaled down as well, but they might be just a little longer to develop more momentum. You need that extra speed when you clip zombie's ears, you know.:D

Them Hueys give me chicken skin just thinking about them. Ive spent many hours in them back in oilfield days flying offshore. They would use stripped out hueys for personnel carriers and 99% of the time the pilots were ex Nam pilots. At first I thought they were freekin crazy and didnt know how they could keep their civilian jobs because they flew them things like they were still in Nam. After several hours of flight I finally realized they knew what they were doing and then some! Then it became a total rush to get in one of them. Ocassionally id get to sit in the copilot seat and put on the headgear and talk to the pilot on the way out to the rig. One day when I was a greenhand and all knew it the pilot said "well someone is going to have to get off this bird..too much weight!" while one guy in the back is cramming baggage in the tail and pounding everything into every nook and cranny he could. Well he finally got the baggage in and we were ready to go. Im thinking we are way overloaded? When he left the pad his fun began. He hovered at must have been six inches like he could barely get airborn and soon as he cleared the pad he dropped down to the water which seemed like the waves were hitting the bottom of the chopper. The whole time hes nodding his head side to side like "were not going to make it". Of course everyone else is playing along which didnt help. Needless to say I thought it was all over at that point. I was just waiting for the next 8' swell to swamp us:eek: After we rose above wave level I noticed everyone was smiling and looking at me. Made me feel a hell of a lot better. There were times when these pilots would do a hard bank and looked like they would get the rotor tilted down far enough that they were between the legs of the jackup rig and then they would power down and just drop on the pad. These guys could fly!

That's about the sweetest dagger I ever laid eyes on. My oh my. I love that blade. Damascus and Stag really push my buttons. Can't believe how uniform that turned out.

Guess I better look for a hawk now too huh. I don't want to be caught with my britches down when them Zombies start a comin.

Too many years as a be prepared boy scout to let that happen.

You do damn fine work Bookie and thanks much for attending the University for us.

Bookie, what caliber is Durty Nelly out of curiosity?

You might look at your settings too. I think you can choose to accept emails as a registered member. I don't think you can get a PM. But that way when people like me have stupid questions we can ask. Heck I can probably find a contact on your website.

See what I mean about people like me. A little in the slow lane?

I'll try, but for the most part, can't do anything with settings. According to a permanent post, things got messed up when they up graded the system, so I'm currently regulated to the Groveling Curmudgeon level. I figured it would take me years to advance to Worthless Slime Ball level, anyway, so no sweat! What do the different levels cost? My Nelly is .360. It is an original barrel my Great-Grandpa made about 1900 and I rifled it by hand. The double set, double phase triggers were made from a piece of angle iron and weight lifting bench. I am 5' 10" and when she stands upright, her muzzle just pushes my nose upward. She's a mite ornery to hold is a 10 knot wind, but at 6o yards, she'll cut the center from an X. Photo is her 1st spider that she killed.

I think you can accept email without signing up for a paid membership. I can't remember what the Gold Membership cost is 20 or 30 bucks I think, there's one below that too as I recall.

For some unknown reason I had Nelly pegged as a 36. It seemed to be a quite popular caliber for the long rifles. Also what the local fella recommended. He built a 58 caliber for a friend for bear hunting, carved bears and such in the stock. It was a beauty. He showed me several where he made everything like you, but usually he said he used bought components, triggers and guards and such.
Your kind of rekindling my black powder itch. I have a couple store bought rifles a 45 and a 54 and several BP revolvers, never shot the revolvers much but shot the 54 quite a bit. Pretty accurate smoke pole for sure. I've neglected it far too long.

It's O.K. if you feel you've neglected it for a while. I snort black powder, so I've kept up for BOTH of us!!!

I gathered from your target that this wasn't your first time. Maybe second or third.

I'm gonna go out to my cave and hug my muzzle stuffer now.

You are wrong, Bawanna. That was Nelly's first spider on my first target at my first Over The Log shoot.

Well, Bawanna. I hate to tell you this, but you're wrong again. She IS of the female gender!!:D
