Translucent Paramilitary 2

It looks great; I also like how you rounded the spine of the blade.

I really need to get on of those STR low-rider clips for my PM2.

I had to re-do the countersinks since the screws were sticking out but once I did that, I was able to use the stock screws fine.

Was this very hard to do? Did you use a drill press, or a hand drill?

Just curious if this step is something that could be done with minimal tools, as overall this project seems pretty doable for most people.

Not very hard at all. I used a hand countersink tool, this one:

http://www.garrettwade.com/rose-handle-hss-countersink/p/88S03.01/ (I have the beech handled one).

I just went hole by hole when I had the scales off, gave it some turns with the countersink, checked the screw fit, and repeat until I had the depth I wanted.

Yes I think it a project anyone can do at home with just some cheap hand tools. There are other ways to do the countersinks of course but I wanted to do it by hand and go slow since I didn't know how far I had to go and was not too familiar with how G10 reacts to machining. The stuff is tough, it probably took 20-30 turns to get the depth right but I imagine that is pretty variable depending on how much pressure you apply.

Thanks very much for the info and link. Even as someone who hasn't yet ventured into knife mods, I might just have to try this tweak out. Again, great result, thanks for the inspiration.

Yes, couldn't agree more. The knife looks very cool and it seems like an easy mod even for a mod noob like me. Thank you for sharing Zephy5! Now I just have to get my hands on another digicam para to try it on.

Wow that looks amazing! It's almost like you're looking at an x-ray image. That would be a really cool sprint run.

I really like jade G10 and wish more knives came in it. It looks fantastic on this para2. I'd love to see it with the black DLC blade as well.

Did that to my Kershaw Echelon. In fact, that was the only reason I bought an Echelon.

Man, that looks really nice. I was wondering about the screws and lanyard tube. I've been considering doing this, but wasn't real sure how easy it would be or how it would look. Thanks for sharing your process and the end result. The only difference is I want to dye it red then I'm done.

When I started to read your post I said "meah..." but after seing the pics I have to admit you have a very nice knife there. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
