I'm a fan of modern folders. I typically have a SAK or lady leg in the pocket handy, but almost always have a modern folder/fixed blade as my go to. Anyways, I've been putting together a small box for my son who's not quite 4 yet, one of those, "just in case anything happens to me" boxes of keepsakes for him, and since it's a classic, and green is his favorite color, I picked this up for hime recently;

It's been so long in the world of modern folders, I forgot how much I do like the feel of a simple trapper in hand...
Now I'm in the market for a trapper or 2 or 3 of my own...

So, what trappers do you got.

I love this 48 Trapper in Cocobolo

Very pretty examples. Mine are all on the budget side, but I'll be taking a pic later just for fun. Pretty sure I only have a few.

I love that 0200 Wharncliffe Trapperhead every time you post it, Jeff. If I were to have a grail knife, that would have been it. I have one of the 0200 CV knives that has a stag bone with the secondary blade as a spey, but yours is better. :)

Nice! Was wondering if there was a thread just for trappers. Never really cared for the pattern until recently when I bought a yellow handle Case trapper.

Thanks, John, I had one of the 0200 amber stag bones as well, and they did an exceptional job on the bone. If it had a straight-edged blade for the secondary, I'd probably have never let it go. The Wharncliffe blade makes this one just that much more versatile, and the green jigged burnt bone is very nice, too.

Interesting that you called it a grail, as this is the thread I posted when I got the knife three years ago.

You know, I might have bought that 0200 from you, come to think about it. It was through the Exchange here a few years ago, so I got it from somebody here.. I put a little Ren Wax on it which really brought out the bone but otherwise it's still in the box.

I thought the same thing, but wasn't at all sure. My memory ain't what it used to be. That bone stag and this green bone are the only ones of their kind I've ever seen, in person or online, so they must both be fairly rare.

Darn you guys. I had decided my next knife will be a wharncliffe trapper, but I am responsibly holding off because I had to buy new gear for an epic backpacking trip that I am fortunate enough to be going on next week. Some old pocket companions Will be joining me for this trip. This thread makes it more difficult not to pull the trigger and get it before I leave on Sunday....a trapper belongs in the woods!
