  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

TRAPPER TUESDAY

Boker Tree Brand with Smooth Yellow Bone Covers

I've been eyeballing the Boker Trappers but was wondering if someone can answer about the "High Carbon Stainless" blades. I guess I always assumed high carbon content made for a blade that took on a patina and stainless was well....stainless. Do the Bokers take a patina like a Case CV or GEC 1095?

High carbon stainless just means it has about .5% Carbon or higher, so the blade will take a proper hardness. Stainless generally means it has at least 12% Chromium to resist rusting. For many years Solingen stainless steel was roughly 440B in composition, or about .75% carbon, same as their C75 carbon steel blades. The stainless just had the added Chromium as well. I'm not certain they still use the same steel now.
