  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

TRAPPER VS fOLDING HUNTER

I think the straight-spine blade is more useful than a spey blade. I like mine as a pairing and kitchen knife.

Folding Hunters tend to be much larger than the trappers, In my experience. Both knives will get the job done. The trapper pattern as the name implys is optimized for the skinning and butchering of small game eather hunted or trapped. while the Hunter is geared more for larger game. both are great classic designs you can't go wrong with either one.

I'll give you my experience for what its worth. Either a trapper or folding hunter or even a like sized fixed will all do for the field dressing of a deer. In the skinning and quartering portion the hunter or the fixed get a slight edge. In the final portion of seperating and slicing up frying pieces the trapper is much better. The thicker blades of the other two make it tough to make neat slices and it is more tiring. At least that's my experience.
