Travel Friendly Knife

Yeah, much as I'd like that Boye, I have had luggage lost in the past, and also had things disappear from my luggage when it was 'inspected' enroute. Just on my last trip to Istanbul a couple weeks back my luggage went missing for 2 days. So I'm not fond of putting something prized in the bag. On top of that, looks like the Boye is a one-hand opener and a locking blade, one or both not law friendly in places.

Those cheapie ceramic knives are interesting. Since one of my top uses is cutting up dinner, I don't think I trust a ceramic knife cutting on a ceramic plate. But them things are so cheap on ebay that I might just have to get some to play with anyway.

SAK Pioneer arrived yesterday. Pretty tight spring. Wondered what would happen first,,,, pulling off my nail, or the blade opening. Anyway, sharpened it up to a toothy edge. Think it will do fine, after I exercise it some.
Buck 301 showing up 2maro, so will see how that is too. Think the last time I had a Buck was 30 years or so ago, so has been awhile.
Pretty much none of these things have pocket clips, so ordered the SAK medium clip holster. Should work with any of these similarly sized knives, to clip onto pocket/belt/pack easily.

SAK pioneer is a good knife.

Used the huntsman to open beer the last few days, the corkscrew for the wine and for the first time in a few years, the can opener.

I was making tomato sauce for pasta and the ring pull ripped off the can lid! Very glad I had the SAK.

I have one of the boker offerings at home in unopened post. Bought it to try out and am now thinking I cocked up. A glass breaker, pliers and a seatbelt cutter would not have helped open that can!

Per TSA's wesite, all knives
Except for plastic or round bladed butter knives.
are prohibited.

I would not chance bringing a knife, even my little keychain SAK on a plane. That said, I wonder if those round tipped "my first Opinel" knives could be ok if you convince someone it's a butter knife.
