The reservations are made and the tickets are in hand. Now, God willing and karma permitting Pala, Yangdu and I will be headed to Nepal Feb. 2, 2000. Here is the plan.

We go Reno, Seattle, Narita, Bangkok. We will stop in Bangkok for three days to do puja at the beautiful wats (Buddhist temples) to be found in Bangkok and surrounds.
We will arrive at Tribuvan in Kathmandu Feb. 6.

Pala will stay on in Nepal to oversee operations at BirGorhka. Yandu and I are scheduled to arrive back in Reno Feb. 22.
It is a long and arduous journey and having made this journey five times already I know from experience things can happen so these dates could vary a day or even a few days either way.

Most importantly this means our US operation will be shut down most of the month of February. My phone will log messages but we will be unable to ship anything while we are away. Please be patient and bear with us.

This trip will improve quality even more and I will be bringing back a few brand new items -- khukuris and more. While we are gone I will try to make some posts here on the forum and I might be able to answer some email using Gelbu's computer. I may have to pay $12 per hour access fee to get where I want on the net so I will not be spending my usual 50 or 60 hours per week at the screen. But I will do my best to stay in touch.

In order to keep everybody informed I will keep this post at the top until we leave and also will place a notice on our website. If I forget which I am sure to do please send this post BTTT.

While I am away be kind and considerate to one another and if you can find the time to do a little puja for our safe journey it would be greatly appreciated!

Uncle, I think you are going to need a stand-in Moderator while you are away.
I nominate Rusty.

Bill,

Great! You all take care and keep a watchful eye on the political situation.

If you guys need to layover in the Seattle area you have a place to stay.

Many thanks to all for such great kindness.

To be very honest, I am not looking foward to the journey itself. It is very long and tiring and as most know I am addicted to cigarettes and I will be without them while on the plane -- a major pain.

However, I feel I must go. It has been more than 8 years since I've been in Nepal and I have family and friends who have been begging me for at least five years to come visit.

Additionally, BirGorkha is moving to a bigger and better facility. Our recent expansion was too little too late. Increasing size by 50% just didn't get it. I want to give some ideas to Gelbu and Bura which I have picked up at some minor manufacturing facilities such as Boeing, Lockheed, Caterpillar, Honeywell and a couple of others. I think these ideas will be of great benefit to BirGorkha in its new, better and much larger facility.

And where we were located invited too many visitors and Bura along with most of the other kamis were sick of it. Bura noticed some kamis coming in and he accused them of spying on us and trying to steal our ideas. Bura has some "secret" methods he uses which he will not perform when visitors are present. Our new facility will be in a more isolated area and will have six small apartments above the factory on the second floor where kamis may live with subsidized or free rent.

Rusty emailed me and said he would substitute for me during my absence, although I am hoping I'll be able to make a few posts from Nepal. I'm not sure what sort of net connection Gelbu has.

Anyway, let's keep this post near the top so new comers will know what is going on and many thanks again for such great kindness.

Uncle Bill, please be sure to take lots and lots of pictures of the new facilities so that we forumites can, upon your posting of the photos, feel as if we ourselves had been there.

Bill,
Have a safe and eventful trip. I will put in a word for you at Mass.
Best to all of yours,
Leo
P.S. Can't help it now, find out "whuts up" with Nara B. while you're there.

Have a wonderful trip, Uncle. BTW, the last time I was through Narita, they did have a conveniently located smoking lounge.

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, Babe, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride.

Uncle, if you want some place for rest and smoke around Narita after flying over the Pacific Ocean, let me give you the place.

Wish you a safe and nice trip, and may the Force always be with you.
