Based off the field trials of the initial "rough draft" prototype sample I sent Imacasa a few requests including thicker stock, harder heat treatment, and a less-finished and steeper edge bevel, as I wanted it to be able to be converted from single to double bevel or finished out thinner or thicker depending on the desire of the user. Here are the pictures I received today, along with the DHL tracking number. Will post more photos once I have it in hand. I have a nice beech handle blank I harvested a few months back that's waiting for it. :)

Great tool, I did know a similar tool, but not as robust. You can give it a lot of uses in the farm and forest and a few ones in a factory also.

Looks like it would be great for hollowing out large pieces of wood as an adze as well. If they make a curved one too I'm in!

A curved one would kind of destroy its overall versatility. The intention with this is as a multi-purpose tool. If you need a curved adze, then there are better options out there. This'll work well as a flat adze, though.

Thanks! According to the tracking it's now in Cincinnati, OH so it should be at my door by the middle of next week, I figure. Can't wait to play with it. :D

Yeah, that makes sense. Oh, and I think one of these in a truck would be a great thing to have for just about anything that could come up.

Each time I see it more it likes me. Can we know its specs and when we can expect to purchase one of them?

I don't know the weight of the revised version yet but the other specs are:

Socket Inner Diameter: 1 & 3/8"
Socket Length: 4 & 1/8"
Bit Length: 4 & 7/8"
Bit Width: 4 & 1/2"
Lashing Hole Diameter: 1/4"

Sheaths will be made for these in a simple pouch style that swallows half of the socket for retention, with a stitched belt loop.

No idea how long it'll take to get them into production, as El Salvador has a bit of a flexible concept of time if you know what I mean. As I know more I'll post it up.

It landed first thing this morning and it's looking good. The weight of the beefed up version is 700g on the dot, or about 1.5lb
I'll be getting the honing it up and taking it for a spin later today if things go to schedule. Expect a field report within the next few days, at least!

Tons of it on the property here, so it was kind of a natural choice. :D

I see this tool hanged in a straight haft, but you will know about it more than I. Let's see the field report.

Oh it does plenty of tricks when mounted straight, too. The curved haft is for use as an axe, adze, or hoe. Straight for digging bar/bark spud.

Thanks! Almost got the socket taper fit. I have about an inch more to seat. I'll leave about 1/4" or so for when the wood dries even more. The combination of a tight compression fit on the socket, a set screw (an eye screw can be easily screwed in by hand) as well as the lashing holes should make for a nice secure mount. When marking the socket taper to see where the high points were I was making blows into a piece of junk wood that was outside and it was delivering powerful enough strikes that the unsharpened edge was still biting into the wood pretty deeply.

I'm thinking bark spud on long straight handle and socket chisel/slick on short one. A cool little tool that will probably find dozens of applications.

Very cool.

Are you using the head to shape the handle? I did that once with a little tanged adze that I forged. I shaped the handle in my second-story efficiency apartment, bracing one end of an oak branch against some padding on my hip, then working it down by swinging the adze blade in my hand. Worked all right, and I had quite a pile of shavings to scoop and vacuum up afterwards. :)
